Is HP Victus Worth Buying

HP has introduced the Victus series of laptops here in India. Victus 16 is the first laptop of the family. But the question is, Is HP Victus worth buying, and Should you buy HP Victus 16?

Where other laptop brands were charging a premium for offering high-end specs, HP took a different route.

It seems like their intention was clear. They wanted to attract the audience by offering some compelling specifications without breaking the bank.

And they did.

But the specifications don’t translate to real-world performance.

So how is this series of laptops? Is HP Victus 16 worth buying? If yes, then which model of Victus 16 is the best value for money?

Here is our take on HP Victus 16.

HP Victus 16 Variants

HP wanted to reach a larger audience, and that’s why they have introduced four different variants of the Victus series.

Luckily, the company has made all the variants easily distinguishable unlike the Mi Notebook 14, where the company has launched so many variants and confused the users.

So, what are the differences in all the variants of HP Victus 16? It’s mainly in the RAM, Display, and GPU departments.

Variant 1 (Victus 16-e0075AX): This is the cheapest variant that comes with a standard 60Hz refresh rate, 8GB RAM/ 512GB SSD, AMD Ryzen 5 5600H, and 4GB NVIDIA GTX 1650 graphics card.

Variant 2 (Victus 16-e0076AX): This particular model has all the specs of the above variant, but here, the GPU is a more powerful RTX 3050 (4GB).

Variant 3 (Victus 16-e0078AX): This variant has a more powerful 5th Gen AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor, 4GB RTX 3050Ti graphics card, 16GB RAM with 512GB SSD. The display here has a 144Hz refresh rate.

Variant 4 (Victus 16-e0360AX): It has all the specs of the third variant, but the GPU here is 6GB RTX 3060.

So these are the four variants of HP Victus 16.

Note that the other remaining specs like display size, build, design, and speakers are almost similar among all the variants. We have shared the full specs in the later part.

Is HP Victus Worth Buying?

All the Victus 16 variants that the company has launched are powerful without any doubt. All these variants have a perfect combination of CPU and GPU.

So the question is, Is HP Victus 16 worth buying?

The answer is a definite yes. When we look at the overall package of Victus 16, it’s impressive for most of the parts.

From base to the top variant, all offer a good pair of specs that you can’t ignore.

But,

There are two variants that could help you to save some money without compromising on performance.

So if you are interested in HP Victus 16, make sure to check these two variants first.

Which HP Victus 16 variant is worth buying?

If you really want the best bang for your bucks laptop, then have a look at these two variants of HP Victus 16.

1. HP Victus 16-e0076AX

HP Victus 16-e0076AX, Is HP Victus Worth Buying

Sitting right above the base variant, the Victus 16-e0076AX is possibly the best variant among the whole lineup.

But first, let’s talk about how it is better than the base variant?

The base variant is priced under Rs 68000 and comes with an RTX 1650 GPU. This laptop GPU is powerful but, by adding just Rs 6000, you will get an RTX 3050 GPU, which is insanely powerful.

That’s the reason why you should look for the Victus 16-e0076AX variant first.

This laptop houses a 5th gen Ryzen 5 5600H CPU. This CPU delivers significant power over the last-gen Ryzen 5 4600H.

6 Cores and 12 Threads helps in better gaming. When both these powerful CPUs and GPU are combined, they deliver an excellent gaming performance.

The RAM is only 8GB, but luckily, you can upgrade it up to 32GB using the two 16GB slots. The storage is a 512GB SSD which is a standard at this price.

The 16.1-inch FHD display might seem humongous, but the thin bezels help in reducing the overall size. The display is good with accurate colors.

Playing games on this display is a treat to the eyes. We just wish it could have a 120Hz refresh rate because the competition is offering high refresh rate displays at this price.

The build quality is solid but plastic, which is common in gaming laptops.

One small problem that you might face is the lid wobbling. It seems like the hinge of the laptop is loose, which results in a slight wobble. But it’s not a big issue.

Though, the design is not gaming-centric. At first glance, you might get mistaken by its look. The curved corners and bulky design are gone, and HP has gone for a simple design approach.

Calling it a professional-looking gaming laptop wouldn’t be wrong.

The 70Whr battery is claimed to last for 9 hours on average, but you should expect it to last for 4-5 hours on gaming. It’s a decent number because the internal components are powerful.

The latest and greatest Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 are here that supports Gigabit data rate.

On the software front, the pre-loaded Windows 10 Home with lifetime validity is upgradeable to Windows 11 for free, when available. The MS Office Home & Student 2019 is also here.

Note that there is some bloatware that you need to uninstall.

Another issue with the laptop is the placement of the power button. It is placed on the left side of the delete button, which might lead to accidental presses.

The laptop doesn’t turn off on press, rather it goes to sleep mode. But still, it’s a weird place to put the power button.

Concluding everything, the HP Victus 16-e0076AX is a great gaming laptop that doesn’t skimp on features and power.

HP Victus 16-e0078AX

If the shortcoming of the e0076AX variant are bothering you, then the e0078AX is indeed the right variant for you.

Yes, you have to pay extra, but in return, you will get a laptop that you can call the best gaming laptop with all the features included.

The first difference you will see on this variant is the display. The display size and quality are the same, but the refresh rate has been bumped up to 144Hz from standard 60Hz.

Because of it, the gaming experience on this laptop is immersive. Playing games on this high refresh rate panel is a joy.

Not only the gaming, but every single thing you do on this laptop feels silky smooth.

The processor here is the Ryzen 7 5800H which is significantly more powerful than the Ryzen 5 5600H. The 8 Cores and 16 Threads of this CPU flies on gaming. Even heavy games run smoothly on this laptop.

To Make the gaming experience even better, the GPU has been upgraded to 4GB RTX 3050Ti.

This GPU is better than 3050, but note that it doesn’t make a night and day difference in the performance.

The RAM on this laptop has been increased to 16GB, which is excellent for playing multiple games side-wise. You have the option to upgrade the RAM here too. The SSD remains the same, which is 512GB.

The battery capacity is also the same on this variant. Because the internal components are even more powerful, we were expecting more battery capacity here.

Similar to other variants, B&O dual speakers sound good. These are not the loudest, but you will be satisfied with the sound.

All the remaining features are similar to other variants. And that wobble issue is still here.

If you aren’t afraid of spending around Rs 91000, then this laptop is the best feature-rich gaming laptop that can handle whatever you throw at it.

Final Verdict on HP Victus 16

We aren’t saying that the remaining two variants that we haven’t mentioned here are not value for money.

Yes, they are, but when comparing to the above-mentioned variants, they lack a little.

You can always go for the base variant if you are a casual gamer and don’t play games all the time.

On the other hand, if you want the most powerful gaming laptop in the Victus lineup, then the top variant is the best option to buy if your budget allows it.
