Are Boat Airdopes Good?

We have tested various boAt Airdopes till now. Based on our own experience, we can let you know that whether boAt Airdopes are good or not.

First, you need to understand that most Airdopes are budget TWS. These aren’t expensive except for a few.

So, the sound quality and features you will get on these Airdopes are very good.

No, you can’t compare the sound quality of Airdopes to a TWS costing around 10000.

But when you compare these with the competitors costing the same as Airdopes, you will find that boAt Airdopes sound way better than other TWS.

But there is a catch.

Not every single boAt Airdopes is impressive. Some of them are just average.

It seems like boAt has forgotten to focus on quality in order to launch more and more Airdopes in the market.

So boAt Airdopes are good if you buy the right model. What we suggest you is, choose the boAt Airdopes wisely.

How can you do that?

User Experience:

We didn’t include the boAt Airdopes 441 on this list because it’s the most popular TWS. We did include it because we have tested it and found it to be a worthy contender.

For the price of under 2000, then Airdopes 441 is our number one recommendation.

Because it’s a complete package.

Starting with the build, the Airdopes 441, along with the case, is made of plastic. It’s expected at this price.

The plastic quality is great, and the earbuds don’t feel cheap from any angle.

The design is subjective. Because these are small TWS earbuds, these get fitted in the ears comfortably.

But if you have small ears, then 441 might not get fitted comfortably. We got some messages from our readers complaining about the comfort of 441 because they have small ears.

In our testing, we didn’t feel any earache after listening to music on Airdopes 441 for hours.

While listening to music on 441, we have noticed that it delivers good sound quality, especially if you are a bass lover.

The bass is on the heavy side, which is deep and punchy. Yes, it doesn’t match up with some expensive TWS, but for the price, it’s enjoyable.

boAt has done a good job by balancing the treble and vocals. If you prefer vocals and treble, then you aren’t going to disappoint either.

The bass doesn’t distort treble and vocals, and the overall music experience turns out to be enjoyable.

We haven’t faced any connectivity issues, thanks to Bluetooth 5.0, and the features like IWP works just fine.

Other Features like IPX7 rating, voice assistant, and Type C port are also good.

What’s not good is the call quality. It is good indoors but noisy outdoors.

The person on the other end can hear you properly in a silent place, but it’s just the opposite in a noisy environment.

For gamers, yes, there is minor latency. It’s not that much noticeable, but it’s there.

So the overall experience with boAt Airdopes 441 has been pretty satisfactory.

Note that we are not suggesting the 441 Pro here. Yes, 441 Pro is good, but the regular Airdopes 441 is even better, especially in terms of value for money.

The only visible difference you will see is in the total battery capacity, which is 25 hours on 441 and 150 hours on the 441 Pro. The 441 earbuds last for 4.5 hours on a single charge.

Verdict: The boAt Airdopes 441 is the most loved TWS boAt has ever launched. It sounds great for the price and has all the useful features you would need.

Pros and Cons

  • Lightweight and comfortable design
  • Good sound quality for the price
  • Sufficient bass and clear vocals
  • Good total battery life
  • Decent battery life on earbuds
  • IPX7 water and sweat resistance
  • IWP Technology
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • Excellent value for money
  • The call quality could have been improved
  • Not that comfy for small ears

User Experience:

Many people prefer stem-style TWS because they don’t like small TWS earbuds.

Another reason is that some people have small ears, and regular TWS start to ache their ears after some time.

For all these people, there is a great stem style TWS from boAt, which is boAt Airdopes 141.

Stem style TWS looks similar to Apple AirPods with a small stick with the earbuds. It gives more grip to the ear.

Now coming to the boAt Airdopes 141, it’s one of the best boAt TWS that is totally worth your money.

BoAt has silently listed the new and upgraded version of 141 on Amazon with some additional features.

We will come to those features, but first, you should know how this TWS performs in every regard.

Starting with the design, it’s a stem-style TWS that fits nicely in the ears. Even if you have small ears, this TWS will fit perfectly.

The earbuds are made of plastic, and the quality is really good. These feel sturdy in hand.

Using these earbuds for a longer duration is no problem, thanks to their comfy design.

boAt is known for offering bass-heavy sound. But sometimes, the bass interrupts the vocals and treble and deteriorates the music experience.

But there is no such case here in the boAt Airdopes 141. For the price, we weren’t expecting these to sound good, but surprisingly, they did.

Because of the 8mm driver, the bass is deep and punchy that doesn’t muffle the vocals and treble. You will love listening to the DJ songs on this TWS.

The vocals are clear, and the treble is nice. Overall, listening to music on the boAt Airdopes 141 has been a joyful experience.

Note that these are budget TWS. They don’t sound phenomenal, but they sound more than satisfactory for the price.

boAt has taken care of the battery and offered 42 hours of music playback in total. The earbuds can last between 4.5-5 hours at 80% volume.

The battery life is great, but the carrying case feels slightly heavy. This extra weight is totally worth it in return for more battery life.

Features like IPX4 rating, type-C charging port, IWP technology, and fast charging adds extra convenience to the user.

So, what features have been added to the upgraded version?

There are two new features, ENx Tech, and Best mode.

Do these features make any difference?

Starting with the first, the ENx should help in better call quality, but sadly, it doesn’t make a noticeable difference.

The indoor call quality is decent, but the outdoor is just the opposite.

Coming to the latter, the beast mode makes a difference for sure.

Triple tap on the earbud turns on this feature, and once you do that, you will notice the difference in gaming.

The latency has been reduced to the minimum, making the whole gaming experience a lot more enjoyable.

Yes, it doesn’t match up with the wired earphones, but when it comes to wireless, the boAt 141 is easily one of the best TWS for gaming under 1500.

Verdict: If the stem-style design is your priority, and you want a great-sounding TWS that can also perform well for gaming, then possibly the Airdopes 141 is the best option for you.

Pros and Cons

  • Great sound quality considering the price
  • Good bass with clear vocals
  • Excellent battery life in total
  • Good battery life on earbuds
  • IPX4 water and sweat resistance
  • IWP Technology means ease of connectivity
  • Beast mode works well for gaming
  • Lightweight and comfortable design
  • Average call quality
  • The ENx tech doesn’t make any noticeable difference

User Experience:

We receive several queries from users asking us to recommend a good boAt Aridopes for calling purposes in a budget.

For such users, the boAt Airdopes 281 Pro becomes an easy recommendation from our side because the call quality is the highlighting feature of this TWS.

But how good is the call quality?

What we have experienced is that the 281 Pro delivers one of the most satisfying call quality under Rs 2500. Note that we aren’t saying it to be the best.

Because the call quality is good for most tasks, but it isn’t something that will blow your mind.

It’s great indoors and above-average outdoors. Even in a windy environment, the mic picks your voice well, and the person on the other end will hear you just fine.

So overall, the call quality is good, and you can get the 281 Pro if it’s your main priority.

Now, what about the other aspects?

Like other TWS of this segment, the 281 Pro is also made of plastic which feels decent in hands. It’s not the most premium feel you can have, but it’s satisfactory.

However, the build quality of the carrying case could have been improved.

The design is another reason for recommending this TWS to those users who want a stem-style TWS.

Because of this design, the 281 Pro fits nicely in the ears and stays in place for hours. The comfort is subjective to your ear’s shape and size, but for most users, this TWS will offer a comfortable fit.

Coming to the sound quality, it’s well balanced. The bass is not too heavy but decent. You might have to use an EQ to boost the bass.

Vocals are clear for the most part, but when you listen very carefully, you will find them slightly muddy. But don’t worry, most people won’t notice it.

Treble is nice, and there is no problem with that.

The overall sound quality is pretty good but not impressive.

Also, hardcore gamers should stay away from the 281 Pro because there is a significant latency while gaming.

The battery life is also where the earbuds last for 4+ hours on a single charge and 28+ hours with the case.

Features like IWP, Monopod, IPX5, and BT 5.1 work pretty well with no connection issue.

Verdict: The Airdopes 281 Pro is definitely a good option for calling purposes. On the music side, it’s subjective. If you want a balanced sound with no thumping bass, then this is the right boAt TWS for you.

Pros and Cons

  • Comfortable design
  • Lightweight
  • Balanced and good sound quality
  • Decent bass
  • Good battery life on the earbuds
  • Great battery life with carrying case
  • Good for indoor calls
  • IPX5 water and dust resistance rating
  • Type-C charging port
  • Not for gaming
  • Not for heavy bass lovers

User Experience:

The boAt Airdopes 621 has been in the market for a while now. This Airdopes comes with an attractive design and compelling specifications.

We have done the full review of Airdopes 621 and found it good if not the best.

The design is definitely eye-catching, especially the white variant.

Battery life is the main highlight as the earbuds can last up to 3.5 hours on a single charge, and with the case, the earbuds can last up to 80 hours

The sound quality is good. We can’t say it is amazing, but it’s well-balanced with sufficient bass. The mids and highs are also well-tuned.

Listening to music on this Airdopes wasn’t a bad experience. It was mostly on the positive side.

One problem with the Airdopes 621 was the price. The boAt has already launched a great TWS Airdopes 441 Pro with the same features.

And funnily, 441 Pro used to be cheaper than the 621. But now, both are priced the same.

Now we think, Airdopes 621 makes more sense over the 441 Pro.

Verdict: The battery is the main highlight of boAt Airdopes 621. Other than that, it’s a decent pair of TWS. It will serve most people just fine.

Pros and Cons

  • Eye-catching design
  • Lightweight and comfortable earbuds
  • Good sound quality
  • Recommended for bass lovers
  • Decent battery life on earbuds
  • Phenomenal battery life with carrying case
  • Touch controls work well
  • IPX7 water and dust resistance rating
  • Type-C charging port
  • Digital display on the carrying case
  • Average call quality
  • They should have worked on the earbud’s battery life instead of carrying case
  • The carrying case is big in size

Airdopes 171 is a good option for music lovers who are tight on budget. For the price, these earbuds good pretty good in all departments.

To be honest, we weren’t expecting these earphones to sound great. But to our surprise, these sound way better than our expectations.

Bluetooth 5.0 combined with a 6mm driver produces a well-balanced sound. Even the bass way better than the competition like Realme or MI buds in this price range.

Bear in mind that these earbuds aren’t for heavy bass lovers. If you are one of those, then don’t buy these.

Instead, these are made for those who love the well-balanced sound.

The design is comfortable, and hence, you can use these Airdopes for longer sessions easily.

The Company claims 3.5 hours of battery life, but we got around 4 hours, which is a surprise to see.

Connecting these Airdopes to a new device is slightly different. If these are already out of the case, then you have to put these back in the case first, then take them out, and then it will get connected to a new device.

It’s not an issue. Even it’s mentioned in the user guide booklet.

One more worth mentioning thing is that there are no touch controls. You have to press the buttons to play/pause or skip the tracks.

Overall in this price range, it’s way better than its competitors.

Verdict: Airdopes 171 are one of the inexpensive earbuds out of these. For the price, these earbuds sound good.

Pros and Cons

  • Better than the competition in this price range
  • No complaint in sound quality
  • Balanced bass
  • Decent battery life
  • Light and comfortable design
  • IPX4 water and sweat rating
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • Not for heavy bass lovers
  • Call quality is average
  • You can only charge the earbuds twice with the case

User Experience:

If you are very tight on budget, but you still want a TWS, the airdopes 121v2 is one of the best options.

Because it’s the most inexpensive TWS on this list, you may have to compromise on some features.

For example, the build quality isn’t that great compared to above mentioned earbuds. Also, then battery life isn’t that impressive.

Interestingly, it comes with an 8mm driver. It’s a little surprise that expensive Airdopes come with a 6mm driver, and the cheaper Airdopes come with an 8mm driver.

But, this larger driver goes in favor of these Airdopes resulting in good sound quality.

The vocals and treble are clear, and the bass is above average. If you aren’t too much into bass, then these are perfect for you.

If you want heavy bass, simply use an equalizer, and it will enhance the bass a lot. Overall, the sound quality is satisfactory.

Or you can take a look at this guide on How to Make Cheap Earphones Sound Better.

The biggest feature of Airdopes 121v2 is the digital display on the charging case. This display shows the battery percentage of the case.

The remaining features are also up to the market, like BT 5.08mm driver, and 3.5 hours of music playback.

Verdict: Airdopes 121v2 are one of the cheapest yet good TWS from boAt. For a regular user who can’t spend much, these are just perfect.

Pros and Cons

  • Digital display on the charging case to indicate battery percentage
  • Good mid and highs
  • Above average bass
  • Decent battery life
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • Light and comfortable design
  • No IP rating
  • Average build quality
  • Inferior call quality

Final Verdict on Best boAt Airdopes

So which boAt Airdopes is best and which one should you buy?

All the above-listed Airdopes are the best in their price segment. You can buy any of these without any worry.

But still, if you want an absolute bang for your buck Airdopes, then there is no better option than the boAt Airdopes 441. It’s a complete package with a perfect blend of features, sound, and price.

On the other hand,

If you like a TWS that looks like an Airpod, then the boAt Airdopes 141 is the best option. It’s amazed us with its performance at such a cost-effective price.

These two Airdopes are our personal recommendations.

But as said earlier, if you wish to go for any other Airdopes, you can go without worrying much.

What are the benefits of buying BoaT Airdopes?

  • They look more stylish and futuristic. The future is going to be wireless and true wireless earbuds are one example of that.
  • The portability they offer is just great. Just put it in the case they come with, and carry it anywhere. And yes, you can put these in your jeans pocket easily.
  • You don’t need to worry about the charging. Just put the earbuds in the case, and it will start charging the earbuds automatically. All you need to do is keep the carrying case charged.
  • You can connect these with two devices at the same time. For example, a phone and a laptop can be connected at the same time.

There are many other features of using Airdopes, but the above are the features that enhance the overall user experience with Airdopes.

What are the important things to know before buying Boat Airdopes?

  • A lot of people get mistaken by brand’s ads. You need to know a few things before you buy any Airdopes.
  • Usually, brands promote earbuds with total battery life including the charging case. For example, if a brand claims a battery life of 24 hours, then it means this is the total battery life including the case. An average earbud gives 4-6 hours of battery life on a single charge.
  • Generally, the driver size on these true wireless earbuds is smaller than other earphones (neckband or wired). A traditional neckband earphone comes with a 10-14mm driver. But a true wireless earphone comes with a 6-8mm driver. So there will be a difference in sound quality.
  • boAt Airdopes are TWS, and TWS aren’t the best for heavy gaming, especially the budget ones. If you are a very heavy gamer, then you might see some latency on Airdops.

    2. I’m confused regarding 441 pro and 621. Apart from digital case, what’s the real difference?
    3. For small ears which is the best airdope?
    4. Not fan of high bass. Which airdopes can be recommended?
So altogether, answering these questions, which is the best I can go for?

    1. With Bluetooth 5.2, larger amounts of information can be transmitted at lower power. It means BT 5.2 offers a more stable connection with least audio loss.
The difference between 441 Pro and 621 is minor as 441 is slightly on bass side and 621 isn’t.
For smaller ears, you can go for the Airdopes 141 as it’s a stem style TWS.

    1. Because of the silicon ear tips, these TWS block outer noise to some level, which is known as passive noise cancelation. But there is no dedicated active noise cancellation on these.

  2. Recently bought boat 441, can wear even more than 2 mins. Getting pain, very uncomfortable to my ear. Please suggest me a comfortable boat buds without giving me pain. Or should I go like airpod designs like 141.

  3. Boat airpodes 381 and bassheads 100
    Airpodes 121v2 and bassheads 100
I want to know the difference between these thing’s “bass” because I don’t like bass!

    1. Airdopes are basically truly wireless earphones from boAt. So Airdopes 381 and 121V2 are TWS that deliver a good sound experience. Whereas the bassheads 100 is a wired earphone that is mainly focused on delivering good sound with heavy bass.
If you don’t prefer heavy bass, then you can buy the boAt Airdopes 281 Pro.

    1. Both the Airdopes are the same except for the battery life of the carrying case. The battery life on the earbuds itself is the same. So, If you really don’t need that extra battery life, go with the 441.

  4. What is standby time and should it really matter to us while buying? Also, how is 452 compared to 441 which has an asap charge and price is also less by 500 rs. except the total playback time reduced a bit?

    1. We still recommend you the boAt Airdopes 441 over the 381 because it’s more comfortable and offers features that are useful in daily life.
The sound quality on boAt Airdopes 452 isn’t that good, but it’s good for gaming purposes. Don’t worry much about the stand-by time. For Rs 1300, the boAt Airdopes 452 is a decent deal, but by adding Rs 400, you can get 441 which is better than the other two.
Note that the call quality is good, but not as good as the wired earphones. If you are used to crystal clear call quality, then you might feel a little disappointed in the beginning. Although, it’s fine for WFH.

  5. boAt Airdopes 381 seems almost the same as 441 which is recommended here, and the price is less by around 400rs, except the 1 hr extra charge on buds and the IPX rating. Any suggestions which can be preferred? Also, call quality indoors mentioned is good for both, so all office calls during WFH will be clear if used?

    1. Yes, the bass is good on Airdopes 621, but if you are a very heavy bass lover, then you might get a little disappointed. In such a case, you might need to customize the settings using an EQ.

  6. I want to buy boat 402 but on site it shows 30hrs music time and Bluetooth version 5.2 but in manual it’s shown 16hrs music time and Bluetooth version 5.0? Why it’s so?

    1. The information given on the official website is incorrect. boAt Airdopes comes with Bluetooth 5.0 and 16 hours of music playback. They might have shared the wrong info unintentionally.

  7. I want to buy boat airdropes. I am going for boat airdopes 281pro so can you suggest me best of segment for battery , ipx5 , good bass and also tell me which color should I purchase in airdopes 281 pro active black or aqua blue.

    1. boAt Airdopes 281Pro is a good earbud with balanced sound quality. Note that the bass is good but not too heavy. If you are an average user, then you will be happy with the bass. Overall sound signature is satisfactory.
The earbuds can last for 5-6 hours on a single charge depending on the volume.
The color options are completely up to you. If you ask our personal opinion, then the Black color looks more classy with the matt finish.
