HP vs Acer

HP and Acer are two laptop brands that used to top the chart always.

But now, things have changed a lot.

It seems like HP is putting more effort into launching more laptops at an affordable price, and Acer has lost the charm it’s been known for.

But, Is it true? Is Acer no longer a competitor for HP?

All we can say is that Acer still competes well with HP, and you can’t go wrong with Acer laptops.

But what if HP and Acer are priced almost the same? Should you go with HP or Acer in that case?

After using laptops from both brands, here is our HP vs Acer laptops comparison that will help you choose the right laptop.

Is HP a good laptop brand?

Is HP a good laptop brand

Let’s get straight to the point. We have been using an HP laptop for the last eight years. It’s the HP 250 G2 Notebook with Intel i3-3110M 3rd gen CPU.

We know it’s very old hardware, but surprisingly, the laptop is working fine, even today.

Yes, we had to change the battery, and there were some physical damages, but the fact this laptop still works fine surprised us.

So why shouldn’t we say that HP is a good laptop brand?

Not just us, but many of our acquaintances have a pretty great experience with HP laptops.

We also understand that some users have faced issues with HP laptops, but the majority are satisfied with what HP offers on their laptops.

In this article, we thoroughly covered HP laptops and their reliability. You should check it to get a better idea.

But overall, we can say that Yes HP is a good laptop brand to use in the long run. And we are saying that based on our own experience.

Is Acer a good laptop brand?

Is Acer a good laptop brand

Just like HP, we also had an Acer laptop in our office. We have been using this laptop for more than five years, and this one also surprised us.

The laptop we are talking about is the Acer Aspire ES 15, which has AMD Dual-Core E1-7010 CPU.

This hardware has now aged, but surprisingly, this laptop is working better than the HP laptop. That’s because HP 250 is three years older than the Acer ES 15.

The Acer ES 15 is still delivering good performance in everyday tasks and a solid battery of around 3 to 4 hours, depending on the usage.

The display, build, audio from the speakers, and port selection are better on the Acer ES 15.

We have been using this laptop for years, and till now, we haven’t faced any issues, be it on the hardware or software level.

So, why should we criticize any brand if we had a good experience with their laptops?

Based on what we have experienced, we have to say that Acer is a good laptop brand.

Some users have encountered issues related to reliability, performance drops, and malfunctions on Acer laptops.

HP vs Acer Laptop: Which is Better?

Acer vs HP, Which is better

Now you might wonder, if both the brands are good, then which one should you buy?

HP and Acer had been working at the same pace, but in between, Acer has lost the identity of being a premium brand. That’s because their laptops were causing issues.

The ranking went down, and many people started to complain about the reliability of Acer laptops.

Acer has addressed this issue, and now they are back on track.

Acer One, Aspire, and Extensa are one of the best laptop series for office users and students. The Acer Nitro series is great for budget gaming, and Acer Predator is for high-end gaming.

So it’s safe to say that Acer is now back in the business.

HP, on the other hand, hasn’t faced such criticism. They are continuously growing without any descent in their sales and reputation.

The company has launched laptops for every type of user. The HP 14 and 15 series are the best for business users and students.

For gaming, you can look for HP Victus or Pavilion series.

All these laptops are good and reliable.

So which one is better?

Well, both the HP and Acer are good and reliable, but HP has a slight upper hand in terms of reliability.

Acer laptops aren’t bad by any means, but as we are comparing these two brands, we have to pick a winner, and that would be HP.

However, note that you have to pay a little extra for HP laptops.

The pricing depends on the model and the internals, but in general, HP laptops cost a little extra. For that extra money, you will get slightly better reliability and peace of mind.

But Acer offers more for less. That means you will get more features on an Acer laptop at a lesser price.

So, both HP and Acer are good brands, but HP is slightly ahead of Acer.

Which one should you go with?

As HP and Acer are premium laptop brands, the brand name should not be the deciding factor.

The area where you should focus more is the specifications.

  • Which CPU is powering the laptop?
  • How’s the GPU?
  • Does the display meet your requirements?
  • How long does the laptop last on a single charge?

All these things should be high on your priority list over the brand name.

If you really care about the brand name, then we suggest you go with HP laptops.

But as said earlier, HP laptops offer better reliability at a higher cost.

On the other hand, if you have a tight budget and want more features at the decided price, then Acer laptops should be at the top of your priority list.

So depending on what you want, you can pick either HP or Acer laptops.

HP vs Acer Laptop for Students

If you are a student, then Acer laptops make more sense.

Why? Because the average money students spend on a laptop is around Rs 35000 to 40000.

For that price, Acer laptops offer more features.

Yes, you get HP laptops at that price, too, but you have to compromise on features like a backlit keyboard, fingerprint scanner, and larger battery.

Students always love extra features, and Acer offers that.

However, if you want a slightly premium touch, then spend a little extra and get the HP laptop.

HP laptops are also excellent for student use. It’s just you have to compromise a little bit here and there.

HP vs Acer Gaming Laptops

For a smooth gaming experience, you have to spend at least Rs 50000 or more.

At that price range, we suggest the HP Victus series. The HP Victus laptops are incredibly good at offering great gaming experience and all other features like solid battery, simple and attractive design, great cooling system, and much more.

You get a complete package if you buy the HP Victus gaming laptop.

However, if you like an aggressive-looking design with RGB colors, then the Acer Nitro series is one of the best for gaming.

If you don’t have a budget problem and want a high-end gaming experience, then you can pick the Acer Predator or HP Omen series.

The Acer Predator would be our first choice for high-end gaming because it offers similar specs at a much lower price.

But make sure to check the specifications and reviews before buying high-end gaming laptops from either brand.

Which is more Reliable?

As mentioned earlier, both brands are reliable. If we have to pick one, then HP laptops are slightly more reliable in the long run.

But you also have to understand that electronic components can go bad anytime.

So if we are saying that HP is more reliable, that doesn’t mean every single unit will keep working for 5 to 7 years. There could be some units that started to face issues within a year.

So the reliability depends on the components used by the laptop manufacturers.

But overall, HP is still better in terms of reliability, although by a small margin.

Which offers better after-sales service?

Both companies have a significant presence in the market. However, in the last few years, HP’s revenue has reached almost double that of Acer.

So it’s evident that HP can invest more money in user satisfaction, and after-sales service is one of the primary criteria for that.

That’s why you can see HP service centers in most of the locations across India.

Acer, on the other hand, is not as big as HP, but still, their after-sales service is great.

You might not find their service centers everywhere, and you might have to take your laptop to other locations if you live in rural areas, but still, Acer’s after-sales service is not that bad.

Replacing the defective component might take several days, depending on the availability.

So sometimes HP’s service might feel better, and sometimes Acer’s.

Everyone’s experience may vary, but as far as we have experienced, HP is slightly better, and Acer is very close to it.

Final Verdict

We are happy and satisfied with the laptops we have purchased from HP and Acer.

The laptops we bought lasted over five years, assuring you can’t go wrong with either HP or Acer.

But again, we recommend you have a closer look at the internal components instead of the brand name.

It’s the internals that make a difference in everyday life and decide how the laptop will perform in the long run.

Both HP and Acer are reliable brands, and you can go for either.

Still, if you want the best value-for-money laptop, then go with Acer. And, if you prefer better after-sales service and reliability, then go with HP.
